Cherie Bardsley is a Data Scientist/Analyst who recently joined the Retail Control Systems (RCS) Development team. “I am so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to join the wonderful team at RCS. As an RCS customer for the past six years, it has been a privilege to work with them to help support NCR Counterpoint at Goodwill Industries of Denver and the Grand Canyon Conservancy. RCS is an outstanding company with excellent leadership and a fun culture. They provide consistent, world-class support and services to their customers and I’m excited about the future of the company and wanted to be a part of it.”
Prior to joining RCS, Cherie worked for nearly four years at Goodwill Industries of Denver (GID) in the Information Technology group as the Retail and Operations Analyst where she was the primary support contact for GID’s Counterpoint POS system. She was also GID’s data scientist/analyst developing business intelligence solutions and data science products using Tableau, Alteryx, R and Microsoft SQL.
Cherie is passionate about data science and storytelling through visualization, converting data into valuable business insights, and helping businesses move from basic reporting and analysis to the exciting new world of predictive and prescriptive analytics.
Cherie has eleven years of previous retail experience as a retail operations manager for two nonprofit National Park partners at both Yellowstone and Grand Canyon National Parks, and over ten years of “big business” technology and IT experience as a chipset project manager and IT professional at Intel Corporation in Folsom, California. She holds a Data Science specialization certification from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and a B.A. in Information Systems degree from Western International University in Phoenix, Arizona. Cherie is also a member of the Boulder, Denver, and Rocky Mountain Tableau User Groups, Denver Alteryx User Group, and DataScienceGO, KDNuggets and Data Science Central professional networks.
Outside of work, Cherie and her husband are avid hikers, wildlife watchers and river runners. They have rafted numerous rivers in the western United States, including ten trips on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, tracked and studied bears and wolves in Yellowstone National Park, and have hiked and backpacked into some of the most scenic and remote spots in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountain, Zion and Yosemite National Parks. “If you are planning a trip to Yellowstone, let me know and I would be happy to give you some ‘insider’ tips.”
