Goodwill Week

Clothing & Apparel, Events

First celebrated in 1951, the first full week of May is dedicated to Goodwill agencies educating their communities about the work they do, especially career services, financial advising and job placement. Their mission of “helping people with disabilities help themselves” results in someone entering the workforce every 33 seconds! Of course, they rely on donations to provide these services, so get started on your spring cleaning and contribute to their mission today!

From May 5th to May 11th, we’ll be celebrating Goodwill Industries Week! For more information, and to find a local Goodwill location near you, visit their website www.goodwill.org and learn how you can help your community and build a better future.

Partner Award Circle Winners Banner
We just received some great news from NCR while attending NCR’s Partner Conference,  and are humbled to be included in NCR’s Circle of Distinction! The Partner Award Circle has three levels.  The first, Circle of Distinction recognizes partners with targets of at least $1M who achieve a minimum of 110% of target.  The Circle of Excellence is for partners with targets between $250K and $1M who also achieve at least 110% of target.  The Circle of Achievement is for partners with targets less than $250K that reach at least 100% of target and for all others that achieve between 100% and 109%.

We have worked incredibly hard this past year, and made leaps and goals that we continually pushed ourselves to not only meet, but exceed! It’s such a great feeling working with a team like RCS and knowing that every one that works here has an impact in our success. I should also mention that we are not only growing, but also hiring as well! Check out our career page here: www.retailcontrolsystems.com/career

Looking forward to next year, we plan to exceed our goals again, continue to grow RCS, and exceed our customers expectations!

Thank you to all of our customers who helped us obtain this goal! We cannot thank you enough.

Dave & Laurie Albert show off their Boston gear on Boston Support Day!

RCS has a lot of customers in the Boston area, some of whom were directly affected by the Boston Marathon bombing and subsequent events. As the whole country rallied behind Boston, we checked in with local businesses and offered our help. Today we celebrated Boston Support Day by wearing Boston swag and offering FREE phone support all day to our Boston-area customers!

RCS strives to always keep improving customer relationships, and we’re honored to be able to help our customers in the Boston area as they resume business in the wake of last week’s tragedy.

Commitment to Employee Development

Airport waiting area - black and white imageRCS is dedicated to improving not only our customer’s lives but we also have strong commitments to our employee development. Projects Technician/Installer Cory Grant is certified in CPR and First-Aid for Professional Rescue, a certified Lifeguard, Health Care Provider, and a Trainer for all of these certifications. To date, he has trained and certified one third of RCS employees in First-aid and First Response in an effort to increase our awareness and knowledge of personal safety, and to allow us to help those in need.

Recently returning from a customer install, Cory was waiting to board a flight back to New Hampshire when he was presented with a situation where his CPR and First Aid skills were urgently needed.  A fellow traveler in the airport, a stranger, experienced a heart attack while passing by Cory. Below, Cory tells his story of this intense moment:

“As I stand patiently in line waiting to board, I watch you walk behind your wife and then fall down. At that time your life is mine. Nothing mattered, nor did boarding, and coming home like I had been waiting to do. I took you in my hands and directed people to help assure you. Your wife; looking at me and then looking into her eyes and seeing her fear. I knew I couldn’t stop. People are coming…. just wait. I still had you under my palms doing what I never thought I would do again. Minutes passed, my name was called over the intercom to board. I kept going, and it felt like hours. I knew I couldn’t stop. I didn’t. Everyone has boarded, [AED] patches were put on, then I hear a cough. I roll you to your side, look at your wife, she says thanks, and cries. I was speechless…..I hug her and say ‘you’re welcome’.”

It’s moments like these that we take pride in our commitment to our employees, and honor those who do the same. Today, we suggest you take a moment and hug your employees, your customers, and your partners. Life is always full of surprises. (And in case you’re wondering, the airline did hold the plane for Cory and he made it safely back to us!)
