Google Ends Support for Less Secure Apps

Google Ends Support for Less Secure Apps

Why are they making this change?

On May 30, 2022, Google will no longer support using apps or devices that ask you to sign in with your Google Account using only your username and password. Google views this method of login as not meeting their security standards.

The full announcement from Google can be found here.

How will this affect Counterpoint users?

If you use Gmail in Counterpoint to email invoices, receipts or other notifications, you may see this error or see it the next time you try to use Gmail in Counterpoint.

There was an error and the email was not sent successfully

How do you fix this problem?

We have found 4 possible solutions:

Option 1
Enable 2-Step-Verification for your Google Account and Counterpoint.Duo-2-Step-Authentication process

  1. Turn on 2-Step-Verification for your Google Account
  2. Sign into Counterpoint with an App Password
  3. After you have completed these two steps, update Counterpoint’s Management Console with the new password. If your entire organization uses Gmail, you may need assistance from your Google Account Admin.

Option 2
Contact your Account Manager using the form below to learn more about email as a service from RCS.

Option 3
Select another email provider and set it up in Counterpoint’s Management Console.

Option 4
Discontinue sending reports, invoices, and receipts directly from Counterpoint. You will still have the ability to save and export these items and add them to emails as attachments.

As always RCS is here to help if you have any questions or concerns.
