RCS is excited to announce the release of NCR Counterpoint Version 8.6.4, a major update focused on improving usability, streamlining daily operations, and enhancing payment security.
This latest version introduces powerful new features such as QR Code login support, a refreshed user interface, early Connected Payments integration, and numerous bug fixes for a smoother, more reliable experience.
New Feature: QR Code User ID Login
One of the most exciting updates in Counterpoint 8.6.4 is support for QR Code-based user login.
Users can now scan a QR Code instead of typing a username or password to access:
- Ticket Entry and Touchscreen Ticket Entry
- Order Management
- Drawer functions and security overrides
- Time card events
This contactless login process saves time, increases efficiency, and minimizes manual entry errors, especially useful for stores using the Login for each ticket setting.
Updated User Interface and NCR Voyix Branding
Version 8.6.4 delivers a modern, branded Counterpoint experience that improves clarity and consistency across the platform.
Key user interface updates include:
- Cleaner visuals and improved button contrast
- Default buttons highlighted for easier navigation
- Better icon visibility for search, zoom, and grid panels
- Improved hover states on Home menu icons
These refinements not only enhance usability but also align with the new NCR Voyix brand identity, creating a professional, modernized look across all modules.
Early Access: NCR Voyix Connected Payments Integration
The 8.6.4 update includes enhancements to the NCR Voyix Connected Payments gateway and begins the early pilot phase for partner testing.
NCR Connected Payments is a secure, cloud-based payment processing platform that integrates with NCR’s Point of Sale (POS) systems. The service allows businesses to handle various payment types, including mobile wallets, with a flexible and secure connection to payment processors.
New capabilities include:
- Store and Forward
- Offline and Multisite configurations
- NCRWANClient and Cross-Store Validation support
To simplify setup, a new installer, NCRVoyixWANClient-ConnectedPayments.exe, is now included. It automatically configures the Terminal Services, PMI Webserver, and PaymentService components.
The NCR Voyix Payments Partner Readiness Program is also launching, offering training and documentation to help partners implement Connected Payments.
Note: Some Secure Pay features are not yet supported in Connected Payments 8.6.4 but will be available in future patches.

Beyond new features, NCR Counterpoint 8.6.4 delivers multiple performance and compatibility updates, including:
- New InstallShield Setup.exe Installer for simplified deployment
- Improved QuickBooks Online Accounting Interface
- Support for NCR 7896 Scanner/Scale
- Default Font Updates for better readability
- Advertising support on Ingenico Lane 7000 / Lane 8000 Terminals
- NCR Voyix default logos and branding options
- Bug Fixes, including resolutions for Access Violation errors and overall stability improvements

Upgrade Information and Compatibility Notes
To update to NCR Counterpoint V8.6.4, follow the recommended upgrade paths:
- From V8.4.6.19 or earlier → Update to V8.5.7.2 first, then to V8.6.4
- From V8.6.0 or later → Use the Service Pack Installation Guide
Additional Requirements:
- Counterpoint versions older than 8.5.7.2 are no longer supported
- Manual provisioning is required for Offline workstation databases after updating
- Data model changes and new Rules files are automatically applied during installation
